Unfriended is a supernatural horror film revolving around a group of high school students skyping while a ghost of a former friend is haunting and killing them. -Trailers 60% of Unfriended's marketing budget was spent on digital platforms. In july 2014, the first teaser trailer was released, containing scenes from the film. However, in this trailer, the film is called "Cybernatural", which was the first name given to the film. Marketing of A Quiet Place

Image
The post-apocalyptic horror film, A Quiet Place (2018), grossed around 20 times its budget at the box office, thanks to its use of a variety of marketing tactics. -Trailers The first trailer for A Quiet Place was released in November 2017. A second 30 second long trailer was shown during the Super Bowl LII. This trailer gained over a million views on youtube. The other trailers, and this one, are mostly void of dialogue. The Official poster for A Quiet Place About a month before the film's premiere, John Krainski, one of the film's stars and the director, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to present the full trailer. Ellen herself later parodied A Quiet Place by showing a trailer for the film with herself crudely green-screened upon a few shots. These shots included her using a blender loudly while eating and her firing a flare gun into the air, which results in Krainski's character getting killed by the movie's monster. Ellen DeGeneres' parody trai...

Target Audience Research

According to multiple statistics, the target audience for horror films are teenagers and young adults from ages 15-25. People at this age like to be thrilled and excited by things, and horror is the perfect domain for them. A spoof horror movie can have jump scares to provide thrills and other elements of normal horror movies, such as gore and on screen deaths as well.

Use of Conventions

Our film challenges conventions by combining something that is in everyday life that no one bats an eye at, the icebox, with something supernatural that many people have a strong fear of, a demon. While there are movies in our genre (spoof horror) that combine these two elements, such as the Killer Tomatoes, ours does not use the normal everyday object as the fear factor. The icebox is used as the mechanism for the fear factor to interact with our character, the demon resides within it instead of possessing it. Our film does not really represent a social group or issue, since it is a parody of normal movies. Spoof films are satire and make fun of the genre they are parodying, without tackling any social issues. Horror films may have an underlying moral or issue that it wishes to stress, but our spoof film did not.
