Use of Conventions

Our film challenges conventions by combining something that is in everyday life that no one bats an eye at, the icebox, with something supernatural that many people have a strong fear of, a demon. While there are movies in our genre (spoof horror) that combine these two elements, such as the Killer Tomatoes, ours does not use the normal everyday object as the fear factor. The icebox is used as the mechanism for the fear factor to interact with our character, the demon resides within it instead of possessing it. Our film does not really represent a social group or issue, since it is a parody of normal movies. Spoof films are satire and make fun of the genre they are parodying, without tackling any social issues. Horror films may have an underlying moral or issue that it wishes to stress, but our spoof film did not.
